WELLNESS PROFILES

Wellness profiles are blood tests  which reflect the functional status of the liver, kidney, and other metabolic systems.  They are essentially a "snap shot" of metabolic health and give us peace of mind that all is well on the inside.  Because pets cannot tell us how they feel and because animals don't always show outward signs of illness, the early phases of some diseases such as diabetes, liver, and kidney disease can easily be missed. Symptoms for these diseases can be subtle and with our busy, fast paced lives, we don't always have the opportunity to observe our pets in length.  Some of these problems can be well managed when diagnosed early so the value of yearly wellness testing is often underestimated.  We recommend annual wellness testing for the peace of mind knowing that your pet is healthy on the inside as well as the outside. 

SENIOR PROFILES 

Senior profiles are tests similar to wellness profiles but they include thyroid function test.  Changes occur faster in senior pets so biannual testing is recommended for pets 6 years of age and older.  In addition to the blood work other tests can help with early diagnosis of health problems.  We also recommend EKG, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, chest xrays, and a glaucoma test.
